Ronda town, that Ernest Hemingway called, “the most beautiful town in the world”, is Rich with history.

Ronda's origin starts in prehistoric times and was also inhabited by the Celts. Around the time of Christ the Romans were the rulers - the Roman stronghold of Acinipo, with its ancient amphitheatre is situated on the outskirts.  Later the Arabs brought prosperity, and named it, “Madinat Runda” - there are many examples of the Arabic legacy throughout the town.

The Ronda bullring is the oldest in Spain and one of the largest in the World. Pedro Romero born in Ronda is Spain’s most famous and revered matador – killing 5,600 bulls in his lifetime. 

People describe Ronda as a local town with the shops of a city. Everything you need is right on your door step. Tap as bars, restaurants, designer shops and local craft shops.

The countryside around Ronda is surprisingly green - so if you enjoy walking then the area around Ronda is great. 

There are many, "must see" day trips from Ronda:

  • Granada: Here you can find one of the wonders of Moorish Spain - the fortified palace of the Kings, the Alhambra. Which offers a breathtaking insight into Moorish civilization.

  • Seville: The bustling capital of Andalusia, offers the largest gothic cathedral in the world - surrounded by the intimate cloisters is the Alcazar Palace.

  • Cordoba: Situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir river, here you can embrace the remnants of three distinct empires - the Roman bridge, an arch built for Philip II and the La Mezquita.

  • Cadiz: This ancient sea port claims to be the oldest city in western Europe.

  • Jerez: The main sherry region is close by - here you can visit a vineyard or one of the famous riding schools.

There are also many, "white villages" in the Serrano De Ronda, which offer an alternative to the hustle and bustle of the cities or beach resorts.
